Corrections, questions and errors
One person maintains this site, and there is one way to reach them: email. Corrections to the eclipse data are the most welcome message of all.
There is no contact form on this site — there is no mail backend behind it, and a form that quietly went nowhere would be worse than none.
What is genuinely useful to send
- Corrections to eclipse data. If a contact time, duration, obscuration, magnitude or Sun altitude here disagrees with your own calculation or with a published source, please say so. Include the place, the number you got and how you got it, and it will be checked against the Besselian elements and fixed if it is wrong. See how the numbers are computed.
- Factual errors of any other kind. Geography, distances, transport, climate, spelling, a place described as something it is not, a link that has rotted.
- Questions about the path. Whether a specific village, resort, dive site or stretch of desert road is inside the path of totality, and roughly how long it gets. Send coordinates if you have them — though the interactive map will usually answer this faster than an email can, since you can click any point and get its circumstances immediately.
- Something the site is missing. A town in the path with no page, a question the FAQ should answer and does not.
What to expect back
This is a personal project, not a service desk. Email is read, but replies are not guaranteed and can take a week or more — longer during busy stretches. If you send a correction and it is right, the most likely outcome is that the page simply changes, possibly before you hear anything back. That is a good outcome, and thank you.
Please do not send: booking enquiries, requests to reserve accommodation or tours, link-exchange and guest-post offers, or press releases. The site sells nothing and books nothing, and has no commercial relationship with any operator.
Questions this site cannot answer
Some things need an authoritative source, and it is not this one. In each case go to the organisation that actually holds the information:
- Visas, entry rules and border formalities — the official Egyptian government visa portal, and the Egyptian embassy or consulate for your country. Rules change; only they are current.
- Travel safety, security and regional advisories — your own government’s foreign-ministry travel advice for Egypt. It is updated as conditions change and it is the source insurers care about.
- Health, vaccinations and heat guidance — your national travel-health service and your own doctor. Early August in Upper Egypt is a serious heat environment.
- Site opening hours, ticketing and permits for temples, tombs and protected areas — the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. What will be ticketed or capacity-controlled on eclipse day is not yet decided, and this site will not guess.
- Raw eclipse data, elements and path tables — NASA’s eclipse site (eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov), the origin of every number here. If you want the published Besselian elements, the 120-second path table or the global circumstances for 2 August 2027, take them from the source.
